QGTM: From Queens Hip-Hop to the Golf Green

Posted by Junho Ann on

When people see QGTM — Queens Get The Green, they might think it’s just a golf phrase.

But the inspiration goes deeper than golf.

The idea comes from the Queens mentality — a mindset made famous by legendary hip-hop artists from the borough, especially Nas.

In hip-hop, the phrase “Queens get the money” became a symbol of ambition, hustle, and success coming out of Queens, New York.

Queens has produced some of the most influential voices in hip-hop history, including:

  • Nas

  • Run‑D.M.C.

  • 50 Cent

Their music helped define the culture of the borough — a culture built on grit, ambition, and proving yourself.

That same mentality inspired the newest design from Queens Country Club.

From “Get the Money” to “Get the Green”

In golf, the green is the goal.

Every hole leads to the green.
Every shot moves you closer.

But in Queens, green also means money.

So the phrase became:

Queens Get The Green.

It represents two worlds coming together:

  • golf culture

  • hip-hop hustle culture

A Different Kind of Golf Culture

Traditional golf brands often focus on country clubs and exclusivity.

But the reality is changing.

A new generation of players is discovering golf through:

  • public courses

  • simulators

  • city golf communities

  • lifestyle brands

Queens Country Club represents that shift.

The brand was built around municipal golf and everyday golfers, the people playing rounds at local courses like:

  • Forest Park Golf Course

  • Clearview Park Golf Course

  • Douglaston Golf Course

These are the places where golf in Queens really lives.

A Message Beyond Golf

QGTM also carries another message.

It’s about growth.

Many people from city neighborhoods grow up without exposure to golf. The game has historically felt distant or inaccessible.

But that is changing.

People who grew up in the city, grinding and building their careers, are now discovering golf later in life.

Entrepreneurs.
Artists.
Creators.
Professionals.

They’re bringing their culture into the game.

QGTM reflects that journey.

Start in the city.
Build success.
Then chase the green.

Queens Culture on the Course

Queens has always been one of the most diverse places in the world.

That diversity is starting to show up in golf too.

Different backgrounds.
Different stories.
Different styles.

And that’s exactly what Queens Country Club celebrates.

Not just golf.

But the culture around it.

Queens Get The Green

The QGTM design is more than just a hoodie graphic.

It’s a connection between two Queens traditions:

  • hip-hop culture

  • public golf culture

Both built on the same idea:

Work hard.
Stay focused.
And chase the green.
