Queens Public Golf Course Nicknames — The Local Code

If you’ve ever teed off in Queens, you already know every course here has its own personality — and its own nickname.
These aren’t official names, they’re the real names — the ones passed around in group chats, early-morning tee times, and post-round beers.

Douglaston — “Dougie Hills”

A roller-coaster track that plays short but never easy. Every lie feels like it’s uphill, downhill, or sidehill — sometimes all three. Locals call it “Dougie Hills” for a reason.

Clearview — “Bridgeview”

That view of the Throgs Neck Bridge on 16 never gets old. Windy, open, and unpredictable — Clearview is Queens’ own coastal links vibe. “Bridgeview” fits perfectly.

Kissena — “Shorty”

Don’t let the scorecard fool you. It’s short, sure — but it’ll humble you quick. Narrow fairways, tiny greens, and weekend chaos make “Shorty” a true muni battleground.

Forest Park — “Tree Jail”

Miss the fairway here, and you’ll learn what “Tree Jail” really means. Tight corridors, big shade, and zero mercy — bring your punch-out game.

Flushing Meadows Pitch & Putt — “The Night Course”

Under the lights, with planes overhead and city hum in the background — it’s where the Queens golf day never ends. Grab a buddy, a 9-iron, and chase that glow.
