Pelham Bay & Split Rock Inaugural Club Championship 2026: A New Tradition Begins in the Bronx

New York City's public golf scene continues to grow, and this summer marks the beginning of what could become one of the area's most anticipated annual competitions. The inaugural Pelham Bay & Split Rock Club Championship is set to take place on Monday, June 15, 2026, bringing together golfers from across the region for a day of competitive golf, camaraderie, and community. The championship will be hosted at the historic Pelham Bay Golf Course, part of New York City's only 36-hole public golf facility.

A Championship for Every Golfer

One of the best aspects of this event is its accessibility. The tournament welcomes both professional and amateur golfers with an official USGA Handicap. Competitors will be grouped into flights based on handicap ranges, allowing players to compete against golfers of similar skill levels.

The event features:

  • Championship Flight (0–7.9 Handicap)
  • B Flight (8–13.9 Handicap)
  • C Flight (14+ Handicap)
  • Senior Championship Flight (55+)
  • Additional Senior Flights based on handicap

Awards will be presented for:

  • 1st and 2nd Low Gross in each flight
  • Closest to the Pin Contest
  • Long Drive Contest

The top half of each flight will also qualify for the Bronx & Brooklyn Championship hosted by Dyker Beach Golf Course, creating an additional competitive incentive for participants.

Why Pelham Bay & Split Rock Is a Perfect Venue

Located within Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx, Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Courses have long been one of New York City's hidden gems. The facility offers two distinct 18-hole layouts and remains the city's only public 36-hole golf destination. The original Pelham Bay course dates back to 1901, while the championship-caliber Split Rock course was added in 1935.

Golfers appreciate the facility's combination of classic parkland golf, mature tree-lined fairways, and convenient access from all five boroughs. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or simply looking to test your game against fellow local golfers, the setting couldn't be better.

More Than Just a Tournament

Entry includes:
